NATA-NY: Helping Disadvantaged People (A) (March 16th, 2013)

Congratulations to everyone who took part in this weekend's National-Anarchist day of action in New York, which was a huge success. Please see below for a statement from Gabriel Brown.

"On March 16th, 2013 in New York City during the International National-Anarchist Movement (N-AM) Day of Action; individuals within NATA-NY went to Union Square in New York City during a cold day to help out disadvantaged homeless and needful people by providing food and other provisions to them during these rough economic and political times. Despite the fact that Mayor Bloomberg enacted laws preventing anyone outside of his statist monopoly administration on providing help to those in need, these laws did not prevent NATA-NY from taking it upon itself to help those in need. NATA-NY demonstrated that it is possible for people to organize good-will charity efforts through mutual-aid helping out those in need of assistance rather than having the need to depend solely upon an exclusive monopoly retained by the State for any sort of assistance that may be provided to others. This also proved that unnecessary forced taxation of the people by the hands of the state provides very little to those living on the streets with next to nothing and that the money stolen from the people would be much better spent in the hands of the people to provide for those in need of assistance. This also demonstrated that proper resource management by individuals seeking to help give people a hand up rather than the collective control by the state seeking to give a hand out would solve many of the overall problems that leave far too many people living in poverty to begin with.

By practicing the principles of mutual aid based socialism and self-governance through self-reliance and self-determination, rather than statist socialism and coercive methods of governmental “assistance”; you provide free market alternatives to those in need rather than allow for exclusive monopoly control by statist when it comes to providing those with assistance or even a helping hand.

It will certainly be encouraging to see others begin doing what NATA-NY has done during this day through the concept of “leading by example” in the future which is more than I can say for NATA-NY’s critics who provide little to no example of doing something positive to help ether themselves or others."
